At the Wire Processing Expo in Milwaukee a few weeks ago, automation definitely drew attention.
But one of the most interesting conversations we kept having centered around something beyond automation itself:
Versatility.
The EC 65, by GLW, generated a tremendous amount of interest because of its ability to process and crimp more than 600 different terminal typesincluding wire ferrules, ring/spade lugs, flat tab, turned contacts etc. The EC 65 operates on 120 VAC, however, there’s also a pneumatic version as well, the PC 65!
That capability immediately resonated with manufacturers, OEMs, and panel builders dealing with: ⚡ Multiple product lines ⚡ Constant changeovers ⚡ Diverse terminal requirements ⚡ Short production runs ⚡ Mixed applications across customers
For many companies, the challenge isn’t simply automating one repetitive task.
It’s maintaining flexibility while improving efficiency.
That’s where the EC 65 really stood out.
Instead of dedicating equipment to a narrow range of terminals, users saw the value in a platform that can adapt across a wide variety of applications without sacrificing consistency or throughput.
That flexibility helps: ✔ Reduce equipment limitations ✔ Simplify production workflows ✔ Improve scalability ✔ Support changing customer requirements
One thing became very clear during the show:
Manufacturers are no longer just looking for automation.
They’re looking for automation that can adapt.
